| Disney Cruise Line - Dining guide |
|
Introduction There are plenty of different restaurants and entertainment on board for the kids, noting that depending on which ship you set sail either Disney Magic or Disney Wonder there may be a slight difference in location of the restaurants. However, as you read through your Disney holiday guide you will note, the dining ranges are fairly extensive and cater for all needs ranging from the likes of buffet's, main dining, quick service and adult only dining.
Quick Service
If it is a snack you are after or just fancy a little top up before dinner then there are a whole host of restaurants open throughout the day on both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. 'Preludes' is one of the quick snack bars available to guests, normally on deck 4 and at a slight extra cost for bottled water, bar drinks, sweets, crisps etc. It is located just outside the Walt Disney Theatre, so relatively handy if you are going in to watch a show. 'Pluto's dog house' is right next to Mickey's pool which would make sense given their great relationship throughout the history of Mickey Mouse. Hamburgers, hot dogs, you name it they have it, it is all snack food, but the main thing is that it is convenient and available throughout the day.
'Pinocchio's Pizzeria' located on deck 9 of both ships open from around 10:45am to 18:00. Pinocchio's is as it sounds all about Pizza. Pizza lovers will enjoy the range on offer. It is close to Goofy's swimming pool so again handy if you are out catching a sun tan during the day. 'Goofy's Galley' open from 11am to 19:00 at night, is slightly healthier or should we say 'less fattening' for those who are interested in watching their waste lines. If salad, fruit and Panini's are what you are looking for, then look no further. Located on Deck 9 next to Mickey's swimming pool.
Room Service is available 24 hours a day. Usually as with most major Hotels you can pre-order your meal by completing a Room Service Request Card and leaving it on your door handle outside before 3am for the next morning's breakfast. You may be charged for some items, so always best to ask and check before you order when on board.
Buffet Dining
Like any good vacation cruise buffet's are at the heart of the eating experience. They offer a world of diverse foods to cater for all tastes and most importantly, they are straight forward and easy to access. On Disney Magic there is the Topsider Buffer located on Deck 9 which offers a range of meals and locations to sit either inside or out. There is air conditioning too so keeping cool is taken care of. On Disney Wonder there is the 'Beach Blanket' Buffet also located on Deck 9, with great views and a range of meals all day long it offers you the freedom and choice you want.
Some of the main restaurants on offer include the 'Animator's Palate' which is a pretty funky restaurant that plays with the magic of colour, changing throughout your meal from a black and white setting to the brilliance of colour, magical to say the least and definitely worth a visit. The kids will love all the original Disney characters who star in a show throughout. Animator's Palate is located on the 4th deck on both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.
Main Dining
If you are looking for something a bit more substantial then there is plenty to chose from. Parrot Cay is full of colour and lively, definitely one for the children found on deck 3 on both ships. It serves American breakfast in the morning and more of a Caribbean flavour later on for dinner, bring on the jerk chicken!
Triton's is definitely more continental, if you are looking for a hint of France that offers a hearty American breakfast then this is the place for you. It is located on Deck 3 of Disney Wonder only, and the theme heads towards 'The Little Mermaid' - cute.
Although if you are looking for something more stylish then perhaps you might want to consider Lumiere's on deck 3 of Disney Magic which definitely makes the whole experience more sophisticated. It follows on from the theme of Beauty and the Beast and has a subtle French style although offering American breakfast in the morning. Actually quite a nice venue.
Adults Only
Disney Cruise line does like to look after parents or for that matter couples without children, typically adults over 18.
'Palo' located on deck 10. It is exquisite Italian cuisine and atmosphere offer parents, seniors or just couples the opportunity to escape and have a more intimate meal together. The type of cuisine as you can imagine being of Italian theme, ranges from Veal, Risotto, Pasta, Fish, Beef all of a high standard. You normally have to reserve a table in advance and this can be done online or once you are on board the ship, but the main thing here are the views, truly fantastic so once you have booked up your holiday it is definitely worth reserving a table at the same time as the waiting list can be long. Guests have a pretty much perfect view of the high seas and what is more it is a fair bit quieter without the children around.
Palo is present on both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. It usually requires that guests are smart/ casual in what they wear. There are also extra charges for booking tables at Palo and they range from $5 for High tea to $15 for dinner - well worth it.
