Operating since 1992 Disneyland Paris is a holiday and entertainment resort located in Marne-La-Vallee which is a new town in the eastern suburbs of Paris, 20 miles away from the city centre, covering an area one-fifth the size of Paris. It has two theme parks (Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park) along with an entertainment, retail and dining zone and numerous Disney-owned hotels. In 1995 the resort was renamed from Euro Disney Resort to Disneyland Paris. The second of its two theme parks Walt Disney Studios Park was opened in 2002.
In 2007 there were 14.5 million visitors while in 2008 the number reached 15.3 million which understandably makes it one of Europe’s leading tourist attractions if not the most visited overall.
