Disney's EPCOT Center - Walt Disney World Florida

 

EPCOT which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was the second park that Disney built at DisneyWorld. It is comprised of two circular sections, Future World and the World Showcase, which make up a figure eight. Epcot stands out for its live entertainment and dining choices.

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

(Rated 1st in probable top 10.)

Find a table for dinner and prepare yourself for a delightful climax to an EPCOT day with a firework, laser lighting and music experience based upon the nations of the world. It is otherwise best to watch from along the water's edge.

Future World.

There are 8 futuristic structures each has rides and attractions and they are separated by gardens, grass and fountains.


Spaceship Earth.

(Rated 7th in probable Top 10.)

This ride lasting a little over 15 minutes runs through the 18 storey 7,500 ton huge golf-ball like structure. Well worth the ride but located very near the main entrance and obviously very busy as it is the focus for arriving visitors.


Universe of Energy: Ellen's Energy Adventure.

(Rated 5th in probable top 10)

580 visitors enter at each change of audience for this 30 minute-plus ride-theatre presentation. The theatre divides into 6 travelling cars which take the visitors through prehistoric lands on a journey about energy.


Mission: Space. [FASTPASS]

(Rated 2nd in probable top 10).

This ride may not be suitable for some susceptible to motion sickness and also has a minimum height restriction of 44" so please check before lift-off!

Go on a spinning journey to outer space and enjoy the simulator thrill ride crash land on Mars during this 5 minute ride. There is a gentler non-spinning version as well.


Test Track. [FASTPASS]

(Rated 3rd in probable top 10.)

There is a minimum height restriction of 40" for this 4 minute 6-seater prototype sports car simulator ride which whizzes at high speeds through tight bends and up and down hills.


The Odyssey Centre.

Where you will find food and wine as well as culinary demonstrations.


The Imagination Pavilion.

Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. [FASTPASS]

(Rated 6th in probable top 10.)

This special effects 3-D film is a 17 minute laughter filled experience which is held in an air-conditioned theatre!


Journey into the Imagination with Figment.

A 6 minute ride where you pass through animated scenes that utilise sound effects and optical illusions.


Imageworks Lab.

An interactive unit where visitors can 'play' with sound and vision through for example body movement. Highly entertaining for children!


The Land.

The Circle of Life.

An animated educational film of nearly 15 minutes starring Lion King characters focussing on conservation


Living with the Land. [FASTPASS].

Located on the pavilion's lower level this indoor boat-ride adventure which has a duration of less than 15 minutes cruises through the ages and future of farming. More interesting than the description can give credit.


Soarin. [FASTPASS]

A simulated, about 6 minute, hang glider simulation ride that rises high off the ground and suits all age groups but there is a minimum height restriction of 40".


The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion.

A top marine aquarium!

The Seas with Nemo & Friends.

(Rated 8th in probable top 10.)

A 4-minute ride in a clam mobile provides an exciting opportunity to go under the seas in search of Nemo.


Turtle Talk with Crush.

An interactive film lasting just over 15 minutes in which the animated characters engage in live conversation with visitors.


Innoventions.

The East and West buildings both display exhibits sponsored by typically consumer electronic manufacturers and research Labs which are becoming so sophisticated the stands are tending towards mini-attractions. There is of course an arcade with video games and West building has soft-drinks at Club Cool.

World Showcase.

Encircling a spectacular lake which covers 40 acres, with 2 ferries one crossing from Mexico to Germany and the other from Canada to Morocco, is an ongoing world trade fair. The buildings and street scenes often replicate genuine landmarks from the countries presented and the gardens are some of the most beautiful in the parks.


Mexico Pavilion.

Pyramids provide the focus for the exhibit. Inside can be found stall-sellers with their wares accompanied by the sounds from musicians.

The restaurant outside is a great viewing place for IllumiNations.;

Grand Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros.

A delightful and relaxing less than 10 minute indoor scenic boat ride featuring The Three Caballeros: Donald Duck, Jose Carioca and Panchito.


Norway Pavilion.

Diverse Norwegian architecture which includes replicas of a stave church and a 14th-century building.

Maelstrom. [FASTPASS]

(Rated 9th in probable top 10.)

A short but exciting longboat journey lasting about 5 minutes through fjords and storms at sea.


China Pavilion.

The half-size replica of Beijing's Temple of Heaven provides the focus. As well as exhibits of Chinese history will be the chance to enjoy the delicious food at the 2 restaurants where you probably need to make advanced bookings.

Reflections of China.

This standing only nine-screen 360 degree film captivates its audience with scenes of little known historical sites in China and stunning landscapes.


Germany Pavilion.

The architecture is all based on real buildings in Germany. German craft-ware can be purchased but try to get a true taste of Germany at the Biergarten buffet restaurant.


Italy Pavilion.

The pavilion is based upon Venice complete with Gondolas as well as an over 100 feet high bell tower apparently replicating that of Venice's St. Marks Square.


United States Pavilion.

The centrepiece of World Showcase.

The American Adventure.

A patriotic theatre presentation of American history, lasting 30 minutes, accompanied by special effects and dramatic music sounds. A choir provides preshow entertainment.

Japan Pavilion.

A traditional Japanese garden, a pagoda based upon the 7th-century temple in Nara and a Samurai castle form the basis for this pavilion. The temples five storey's representing: earth, water, fire, wind and sky. Here you will have the chance to savour delicious Japanese delicacies at either Teppan Edo or Yakitori House restaurants.


Morocco Pavilion.

Minarets, bustling markets and twisting alleys of the old city arouse the curiosity to explore further even if only to find the belly dancers!


France Pavilion.

What else could be the centrepiece here but 1/10th sized replica of the Eiffel Tower.

Impressions de France. This is an 18 minute film about the French people and their country which is shown on 5 joining screens and accompanied by French classical music and in an air-conditioned sit-down theatre.


United Kingdom Pavilion.

The pub with its regular evening sing along is the central attraction. So if it is English ale you want then it is The Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Rooms for you. The restaurant provides the only full service facilities in World Showcase. Elsewhere is the opportunity to remember home and the shops!


Canada Pavilion.

An interesting native Indian village complete with thirty foot high totem poles and a nearby Victorian-style Chateau hotel.

O Canada!

Shown in a 360 degree theatre this 10 minute standing only film highlights Canada's natural beauty.
