Fantasyland
Fantasyland
is Disney’s park most inspired and dedicated to the many Disney
film classics.
Cinderella’s
Castle is perhaps the most iconic image of Disney World and the
Disney concept worldwide; it is also the main feature of Fantasyland.
This magnificent structure towering at 180ft tall provides flight for
the imagination and aesthetic enchantment. Inspired by 12th
and 13th Century castles in France and Germany the castle
may look completely real, but is actually made out of fiberglass and
steel beams.
Take
a stroll inside the Castle and you will find the Disney Coat of Arms,
innumerable pieces of art and imagery such as murals made from over
one million pieces of Italian glass, Silver and 14Karat Gold pieces.
A perfectly regal residence for a Prince and Princess!!
Take
the majestic stairs to the second floor and you will come across
Cinderella’s Royal Table Restaurant. This is a must do for an
out-of-this-world character dining experience! But be aware –this
is a VERY popular place to dine and booking in advance is strongly
recommended.
In
the courtyard of Fantasyland guests can also take part in the Mad
Hatters Tea Party, the Dumbo flying elephant attraction and visitors
can also seek out the many Events and Shows taking place that day.
All
‘Little Mermaid’ fans should not miss the chance to visit
the beautiful Ariel in her home town! Visitor’s to the attraction
should have their camera’s at the ready as Ariel is often around to
have photo’s taken with her visitors. There is a water area for the
Kids to play around in and cool off, but don’t worry parents! There
is also a shaded and covered area for you.
This
attraction can be found behind Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
Accessibility
Note: This attraction is Wheelchair
accessible.
Walking
through Main Street USA you will no doubt hear the resonating sound
of an organ playing everyone’s favourite
Disney sing-along-songs! Alas, if you follow the source of these
jolly tunes you will soon come across an unmissably glorious carousel
a feat produced by Italian Woodcarvers in 1917.
This
is a fun attraction and a great experience of an old-fashioned ride.
It is considered one of the more minor attractions… but queues can
build up due to slow boarding times of passengers.
What
a Classic!!! The Flying Elephant is still one of the most popular and
iconic rides associated with Disney and takes you flying high over
the Magic Kingdom. This placid ride is not one for thrill seekers,
but is a gentile escape for the younger kids and parents!
Accessibility
Note: Those in wheelchairs must be
able to transfer from their chairs in order to be able to ride.
This
ride is an indoor musical tour taking visitors on a trip over water
to see children from all over the world. On the water tour you will
sail through different rooms showing examples of dancing and singing
from cultures all over the world. How splendid!
The
great Walt Disney and his team, led by the artist and designer
Mary created ‘It’s a Small World’ as tribute to the children of
the world for the UNICEF pavilion at the 1964/65 New York World Fair.
The famous lyrics are blasted out throughout the ride and repeated in
different languages throughout the 11 minutes…
Accessibility
Note: Those in wheelchairs must be
able to transfer from their chairs in order to be able to ride.
Mad-Hatter-ness!!!
Large spinning tea cups! Another classic ride inspired by Disney and
Alice in Wonderland. Passengers can enjoy spinning each other silly
by turning the central wheel of the tea cup whilst sitting in it…
Probably not the best ride to follow lunch with.
Alice
herself along with her friends Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee
will most likely be around to great guests on to the ride!
The
many wonderful adventures of the silly old bear are catered for
within this lovely ride based on the A.A Milne Book. Guests are
seated in vehicles of Honey Pots and seat four passengers.
As
you begin your journey through to the Hundred Acre Wood you can
expect to come across all of the gang: Piglett, Ti-gg-er, Owl,
Gopher, Kanga and of course Roo. Along the ride you will encounter
the honey-thieving Heffalumps and Woozles so WATCH OUT!
Fast
pass is offered on this ride and
this is strongly recommended as lines are always long for this
attraction at all times of the day.
This
is an interactive play area for kids who wish to explore the Hundred
Acre Wood in more detail. There is a “splash” area amidst the
many other obstacles and attractions to keep the tot’s happy.
This
Play Spot can be found opposite the Winnie the Pooh ride.
WOW!
The latest 3D Attraction at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. This
magnificent spectacle took three years to complete with the ingenuity
of Disney Feature Animation and Imagery teams! The show really brings
all of Disney to life before your eyes…so much that you can almost
touch it!
The
show’s synopsis is as follows: It is a magical journey through
everyone’s favourite Disney Movies
bringing together all of Disney’s most loved and most famous
characters. Absolutely superb! This is a definite must see…
Inspired
by J.M Barrie’s much loved book, this ride takes its visitor’s
through Peter Pan’s story in Never-Never land and allows passengers
to sail their own pirate ship…
This
is a 3 Minute long ride and ends with the villainous Captain Hook, a
Clock and a Crocodile. Need I say more?
Based
of course on the 1937 film phenomena, this ride takes its passengers
through Snow White’s kingdom on wooden mine carts named after the
seven dwarfs. The ride is 3 minutes long, which gives enough time for
encounters with the scary Witch the evil Queen but at the same time
is provides enough time to come across the jolly dwarfs and a most
handsome Prince…
As
a note to parents with small tots:
The Disney Guide map indicates that this ride may be “too
intense for very young children”.
