Liberty
Square
Liberty
square is pretty undemanding in comparison to the rest of the Magic
Kingdom. Do not let its size and simplicity fool you however as it is
home to one of the most famous and most loved attractions of all: The
Haunted Mansion!! The area was built in a colonial style with
red-bricked buildings reminiscent of the old America. There is even a
replica of the Liberty Bell so it is a most appropriate location for
the Hall of Presidents Attraction.
One
of the must see icons of Liberty Square is the magnificent Liberty
Tree –which is the largest living structure within the Magic
Kingdom. It weighs a hefty 38 Tons and amongst its branches you will
find 13 lanterns representing the original colonies of the USA.
It
is generally agreed that the most placid and tranquil of all the
rides is within this region: The Liberty Belle Paddlewheel boat takes
visitors along the rivers of America and is a wonderful experience in
glorious weather.
As
far as eating is concerned the main Tavern is the Liberty Tree Tavern
–which take reservations. The food there is great and will easily
fill hungry bellies with the mouthwatering American Fare character
fun dining. If you want to avoid ceremony and wish for a quick bite
to eat, your best bet is the Columbia Harbor House where you can
enjoy some New England cooking.
This
attraction takes an educational and historical look at the
Constitution and the political formation of the USA. It is very
informative and very well executed. It takes the form of a patriotic
23 minute show and features audio-animatronics characters of all the
Presidents.
Admittedly,
this is not one the kids will necessarily enjoy this show the most,
it takes place in an air conditioned theatre and provides a welcomed
sit down on a hot and tiring day.

with hearing difficulties should note that assistive listening

Jeeper’s
creepers!! This place puts the ‘H’ in haunted all right. Feel the
hairs on your neck stand up as you are beckoned to the Mansion by
howling wolfs. You will be greeted by butlers and maids who take you
into the spooky library… keep your eyes peeled at all times
(especially at pictures!), you never know when something is going to
spring out of nowhere.
This
is a ride so you will be escorted into a Doom Buggy which will take
you through the mansion for an grueling 8 minute tour!!! Disney
really goes to town on this feature and attention to detail is
absolutely spot on as usual. There is so much to take in even if
you’ve been on it before there’ll be something else you haven’t
yet experienced.
Whilst
creepy and exciting, this is not utterly unbearable for little kids,
although very small ones might find the noise, flashes and dark quite
unnerving.

This
wonderful three-tired paddle boat is an authentically grand replica
of the old days. As it stylishly drifts around Tom Sawyer Island you
can really take in the surroundings and forget yourself in the
mesmerizing sound of churning water. This is a must do and there are
no accessibility problems so guests in Wheelchairs and other
assistance vehicles can enjoy the experience. This twenty minute trip
takes a scenic route of the wild western colonial days and is just
idyllic in glorious weather.
