Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland
undertook huge renovation in 1995 and has since been billed “The
Tomorrow that Never Was”. It is a great spiraling city of silver
metal, neon lighting, robotics and space objects. One of the most
famous and thrilling of Disney attractions is found in Tomorrowland:
SPACE MOUNTAIN!
There
is lots to eat in Tomorrowland at places such as Auntie
Gravity's Galactic Goodies, Terrace Noodle Station, the ‘Lunching
Pad’ at the unmissible Rockettower Plaza, and of course not
forgetting the Cool Ship and Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café which
offers a counter service with as burgers, sandwiches, salad etc.
Guests
ride Buck Roger spacecrafts around the stratosphere of Tomorrowland
in orbit of the spiraling planets. Two riders are allowed per
spacecraft and guests can control the height of their craft with a
built in lever.
This
is a minor attraction but is very popular with quite small kids. It
provides a lovely vantage point over the rest of Tomorrowland and is
relatively short in length.
Accessibility
Note: Guests in wheelchairs must be
able to transfer from their chair to ride this attraction.
“To
infinity and beyond!!!!”
This
is a great ride in which guests get into two-person XP-37 space
cruisers and are involved in an adventure with the famous Toystory
character Buzz Lightyear. The carts are equipped with ray guns for
use during the ensuing 5 minute battle with the evil Emperor Zurg!
Guests are asked to shoot all of the ‘Z’s in the passing scenery
in order to help Buzz defeat his nemesis! You will be graded on your
accuracy when the ride is over so be sure to get that accuracy
(aiming at the centre of the bullseye will get you the most points)
soldier!
Fast
pass is offered on this ride.
Believe
it or not but this very attraction was first shown in 1964 Worlds at
Fair before being picked up and transported over to Disneyland
California in 1967. Alas, the attraction was moved to the
mother land where it has remained ever since 1973.
The
attraction takes the form of a show which takes its listeners through
the impact of technological progression on Americans' daily living.
Starting from the early 20th century into the near future a cast of
family characters brought to life through Disney's Audio-Animatronics
gives this production a real kick. It takes place in a theatre fitted
with 250 seats which revolves around six different stages and takes
22 minutes. This might not thrill the kids completely but it is a
really enjoyable show for the adults.
Accessibility
Note: There are no wheelchair or
accessibility restrictions. Guests with hearing difficulties should
note that assistive listening devices can be used here and are also
available at Guest Services. Furthermore Reflective Captioning is
provided for the deaf. Why not ask a Cast Member at the entrance for
assistance.
WOW!
The Space Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World is more than 180
feet high, and has a diameter of over 300 feet! You just can’t miss
this attraction which is considered one of the largest ‘mountains’
in Florida!
This
is one of the most popular destinations in the entire Kingdom, not to
mention the World! As a result it will not be surprising to hear that
there are queues to match the enthusiasm for this 3 minute ride.
Space
Mountain is an indoor roller coaster ride that takes blasts its
passengers around in the DARK. Before the gruelling journey into
outer space however, riders are amused by short news items and Pre
shows such as the PNN (Planetary Network News).
Fast
pass is offered on this ride and
this is strongly recommended as lines are always long for this
attraction at all times of the day
Accessibility
Note: Guests in wheelchairs must be
able to transfer from their chair to ride this attraction. Disney
suggests that this ride might be too intense for little kids as it
jerks around and takes you on intense and fast twists and turns. That
also being the case, those with injury to the back, neck etc would be
advised not to take this ride. Note that there is a height
restriction on this ride of 44 inches.
Based
on the animated comedy “Lilo and Stitch” this attraction is a 15
minute show based on the mischievous adventures of Stitch.
Guests
are given the role of new recruits in what has been made to look like
an inter-galactic security system. Stitch is one of the detainees and
it’s your job to keep a hold of him, but he’s a slippery one….
This
show features some great Audio-Animatronics technology and combined
with the theatre style and special effects places guests right in the
centre of the chaos caused by "Experiment 626" (being
Stitch) when he's sent to the Galactic Federation Prisoner Teleport
Center.
Definitely
one the kids will love! An opportunity for them to get their own set
of wheels! Guests are supplied with a gas-guzzling vehicle around a
track (on a rail). Parents don’t be worried; the sports cars can’t
go faster than 7miles per hour. This is ideal for younger kids and
unsuitable for teens upwards unless accompanying a young kid.
Accessibility
Note: Guests in wheelchairs must be
able to transfer from their chair to ride this attraction. 52"/132cm
minimum height requirement to drive the cars alone
This
monorail style tour around the heights of Tomorrowland first opened
in 1975. This relaxing trail takes 10 minutes and can be great break
from exhausting thrills! It also provides a sneak peek into Space
Mountain so that you can see parts that you wouldn’t even when on
the rollercoaster itself.
Sit
back, relax, and enjoy the scenery.
New
in spring 2007!!! This new theatre attraction is based around those
crazy characters from Monsters Inc. and is designed as an interactive
adventure! As the name suggests you can expect to have a belly ache
from laughing and joining in by the time the show is over!!
An
insider tells me that you should take your mobile phone with you
during this show –yes, that’s right! Apparently you will be able
to text jokes to the performers during the show! Sounds great to me.
